POLICIES FOR PAYMENTS
Section 1.
Reading Dates by Representative of Atchison RWD #6, Billing Date, Delinquency Date, Charge for Delinquent Payment, Charge For Returned Checks, Reconnection Charges; Prepayments on Accounts
Water meters will be read by a representative of Atchison RWD #6 between the 25th day and the last day of each month. Bills will be mailed on or about the 3rd day of the following month.
Bills will be due on the 18th day of the month following the month in which the water is used. Bills not paid by the 18th day of the month will be charged a late fee of $25.00. Failure to pay the bill by the 18th day of the month following the month in which the bill is due shall result in discontinuance of service. Payments should be the exact amount that is on your statement. Payments must be made by check or money order, cash will not be accepted. All bills will be sent to the Owner of the meter. It is the meter owner's responsibility to ensure that the water bill is paid to Atchison RWD #6.
Returned Check Charges: There will be a fee charged for any check returned to the District by our bank, regardless of the reason the check was returned. The return check fee will be $35.00. If more than three (3) checks are returned by our bank, for any reason, the District will not accept any check from that consumer; and all subsequent payments must be made by money order or certified bank check.
Reconnection Charges: The reconnection charge for restoration of service will be $100.00 plus late fees and water fees to be paid in full before service is reconnected.
Prepayments: Prepayments will be accepted and credited to your account upon receipt. prepayments will need to be a separate check or money order from our monthly statement. Cash will not be accepted.
Section 2.
Nonpayment of Bills
(a) An account delinquency and service discontinuance notice shall be issued in writing with respect to any delinquent water bill. Notice shall be sent by U.S. Mail, First Class, to the benefit unit owner.
(b) The notice of account delinquency and service discontinuance shall provide the following information:
1) Name of Meter Owner and address were service is being provided
2) Amount past due
3) Notice that water service shall be terminated upon failure to pay bill by said date due
4) Notice that the owner has a right to appear and be heard at the next Board meeting
